30 DAY MAP CHALLENGE · DAY 03: POLYGONSBoundaries hold the story.
This educational map follows US House, US Senate and gubernatorial contests on November 3, 2026, using CivicAPI’s national feeds. Candidates and calls are supplied by CivicAPI; this app makes no independent calls.
Blue = Democratic. Red = Republican. Gold means another party leads, violet means tied, gray means awaiting results, and dark gray means no contest supplied for this office. Use the text labels as well as color.
House view: each congressional district is colored by its leading candidate’s party. Select a polygon, a district in the selector, or a race title to open that district’s candidates. State selection shows all of its districts. Calls still come only from CivicAPI.
Senate and governor: fill shows the leading candidate’s party. If multiple contests are supplied for one state, fill summarizes their reported votes by party; individual calls remain separate.
Calls use the provider’s winner flag. Vote percentages use reported candidate vote totals. Reporting percentages come from the provider and do not necessarily measure ballots counted. Zero votes never imply a winner. Close races have reported votes, no call, and a top-two margin of at most 5 percentage points; early margins can change.
Called counts include only contests in these Election Day feeds. They exclude seats not up for election and do not indicate control of Congress. The app rejects test data and a mismatched election date. API failures use an explicitly labeled saved snapshot when available. Check both the fetch time and source update time.
Senate and governor polygons use the supplied US State Boundaries layer, derived from 2006 Census TIGER/Line geography and shared by Esri for educational use. House uses the supplied US Census TIGERweb 120th Congressional Districts layer, identified by the Census service as January 1, 2026 vintage. State FIPS and congressional district codes join boundaries to CivicAPI results. Non-voting districts and water-only areas are excluded to match the 435 voting-seat feed. Alaska and Hawaii have dedicated extent controls.
